STRATA — The Second Level

STRATA is a side-view geology and factory-building game in active development. This free v0.2.0 desktop demo begins with an empty inventory on a seeded surface. Mine underground, build a connected two-level factory, and automatically store 20 iron plates and 20 copper plates.

• Seed-dependent terrain, mining, falling materials, ladders, and platforms.

• A separate Material Lab, in-game field guide, and manual checkpoints.

Download & play

One ZIP contains the macOS, Windows, and Linux versions. Download and extract the entire archive, read START-HERE.txt, then open the folder for your operating system. Keep each game executable beside its .pck file and data folder. No Godot or .NET installation is needed.

The macOS Apple Silicon build has been played and checked. The Intel macOS build is included but untested. Windows and Linux x86-64 builds were exported and package-checked but have not yet been playtested on those operating systems. The macOS app is ad hoc signed and not notarized.

A/D moves, Space jumps, hold left mouse to mine, B opens the build palette, H opens the field guide, and F5/F9 saves or loads a checkpoint. There is no autosave. The game starts with no free machines or resources; the field guide explains the factory controls.

What was fun, confusing, or frustrating? Could you find copper and get the two-level production line working? If something blocks you, a comment with your world seed, operating system, and the action you tried would help. This is an early playtest, and your feedback will shape the next iterations.

Development notes

The next v0.3 systems are being built in the source project; they are not included in this download. I will use the devlog here to show progress, experiments, and known limits. The panorama includes AI-generated artwork, and AI tools assisted with code and text during development.
